i want to cover up my 2 B.C rich stock humbuckers pickups on my warlock….i want to cover it with those Grey duct tape. Will it affect it at all or not? i mean, will it mess it up or wont matter at all? and please please be serious.

    Yes it will affect the sound. The pick ups grab the vibrations from the strings, then amplifies and transmits them to the amp. By covering them up, you are greatly inhibiting the sound that pick up can detect and transmit. Think of it this way, try and place a piece of tape over a record player needle, and see what happens, same principal. If you ever buy active pick ups, and the battery starts going dead, you will notice that the same way.

    If the tape contains any metal element, then it may have an effect, however, the pickups are magnetic and work on induction, which will sense straight through the tape. They are not a moving part, nor are they a microphone, although the principle is quite similar.
